The hooked tee shot is the ball that starts to the right of the target then arcs to the left, often quite acutely, and almost always the ball ends up in the rough, at best, or out of bounds, at worst. These hooked tee shots are depressing in themselves, and you know as soon as you have hit the ball that the end result of the shot is not going to be favourable.
